 Dear R-Crisis teams,

I have amplification factor computed using Horizontal-vertical spectral ratio(HVSR) from ambient noise measurements in text file format having lon, lat, predominant frequency and the fourth axis amplification factor. How do I put this  format in way that R-crisis needs.

Dear Geremew,

R-CRISIS permits inclusion of local site effects in hazard computations. Site effects are given to R-CRISIS in terms of amplification factors that depend on site location, structural period and ground-motion level (in order to account for soil non-linearity).

You have to provide R-CRISIS with two files:

1. Predominant period file: This is a binary grid file in Surfer 6 binary format (*.grd). The main purpose of this file is to locate in space the grid for which amplification factors are given, as well as to give the grid's resolution. This grid contains as "z-values" the predominant ground periods associated to each point of the grid.

2. Amplification factors file: This is also a binary file, with extension ft. For instance, MySiteEffects.ft. This file contains the amplification factors themselves.

Optionally, you can provide R-CRISIS a sigma file which contains the uncertainties of the site effects calculations.

For more information about how these files are formed, you may look for R-CRISIS Help Menu -> Site effects. Besides, you will find an article with more information about to this topic in the following link.

R-CRISIS Technical Team is disposed to provide you support with these files conversion. For that, you have to build them in .txt files following the instructions contained in R-CRISIS Help Menu and the article, and send them to us to r-crisis@ern.com.mx. Afterwards, we will return them in a format readable by R-CRISIS.

We will be attentive for any message from you.

Thank you for your preference and interest in R-CRISIS.

Best regards,
