If I do not know the depth to be assigned to a seismic source, how can I specify this field?

If you do not know the seismic source’s depth, you can assume it is a source that is parallel to earth’s surface with depth equal to average depth of whole earthquakes inside that source. This means that depth will be the same for all source vertexes.

Should I use the negative symbol (-) before the depth number (regardless of the case)?

Depth values (in km) must be provided always as positive numbers. A negative depth would mean events above earth’s surface.

Dear recently found that the effect of change in depth has no effect in PSHA. Can you please clarify  that? I have used Atkinson Boore relationship, but no effect. When changing the equation then I found some effect.

What is the reason? Atkinson Boore (2008) attenuation relationships should some effect on depth of source.
